John handles Technology Sales and Marketing recruitment across the entire technology sector. He works closely with clients and believes strongly in adding value, not costs. He’s just as happy – and effective – headhunting for a Sales Director or helping a tech company to determine a strategy and build a complete sales function. His aim is always to find the best candidate for the job, and the best job for the candidate.
Simon handles Commercial Sales and Marketing recruitment for the Business Services and FMCG markets. His experience spans contingency and search-and-selection recruitment, and his clients range from start-up operations to multinational blue-chip organisations. He has many long-standing client relationships and a wide network of candidates.
I’m Northern born and started working in recruitment after studying at Leeds University. Relocating down South, I spent several years in a search firm before joining a fast-growing recruitment business to set up their sales and marketing division. After five years in the south I relocated back up north to launch NOBUL with Simon. We work nationally and internationally, but it’s a relief to be based in a place where it’s acceptable to put anything between two slices of bread!
I know exactly what I want to provide for clients and candidates, and Simon has the same approach. That’s where the NOBUL name comes from. We wanted to run a business that’s not about giving clients or candidates a smooth sales spiel. It’s about giving them unbeatable service as a valuable extension of their business or as a trusted careers counsellor.
On a bike or on the sofa watching rugby. I’m a massive rugby fan who has taken up cycling, due partly to injury and partly to never quite recapturing the form I had when I was 15. Surprisingly, I’m also a Grade 8 pianist!
I specialise in recruiting for mid-level to senior level Technology and Telecommunications Sales appointments. I’ve found numerous successful candidates for VAR’s, SIs, software vendors and telco providers, from start-ups to global companies.
I’m Manchester born and bred but had an early desire to travel. I started my career working in B2B sales, including for a year in Australia. I moved into recruitment because it allows me to do what I enjoy most: talking to people. In my time with global and independent recruitment firms, I have built Sales divisions from scratch and led them to successful results.
John and I are both passionate about identifying the best Sales and Marketing people and matching them to the role where they will thrive and their employer will value them. Setting up together was inevitable. And since we’re both Northerners, the no bull approach and the NOBUL name were pretty inevitable too.
